But let’s be honest, you can never have enough chocolate! There does come a point though that you just need to step away and realise that reaching for a chocolate bar as a means to get you through the day probably isn’t the best option. I have to admit that I’m guilty of doing just that. On days when I’m rushing to get out the door, my handbag has been emptied for sixth time by Xander and Joey is sitting in the dishwasher trying to shut himself in, I’m glad I have chocolate in my life, BUT, this can’t go on. And neither can my favourite jeans, so it’s time to move on to a healthier choice of snack – protein balls!  Don’t let the name (or photo!) put you off, these are so incredibly delicious that I promise you, you’ll make the switch from chocolate to protein balls. They take about 40 seconds to make (please allow more time when trying to bake with twins around) and they’re a great energy booster for the day ahead. I was given the recipe by my master nutritionist friend and colleague Helene Patounas and I’ve been addicted ever since.

Recipe Below:

Natural peanut butter (whole earth peanut butter is great) (3tbsp)

Runny Honey (2 tbsp)

Whey protein powder (3tbsp)

Ground Flaxseeds (1tbsp)

Chopped nuts (3 tbsp)

Apple juice/Almond milk (1-2 tsp of needed to bind mixture)

Just mix all the ingredients together and roll in to little balls with your hands. Leave in the fridge to set for 30 mins and ENJOY!
